Hummingbird Hill Vineyard grows premium Pinot Noir on a steep west facing volcanic hillside on the eastern edge of the Sonoma Coast AVA. This challenging 12 acre vineyard site is uniquely suited for growing ultra premium “cool climate” Pinot Noir. Sustainably farmed using barn owls, kestrels and other natural predators to our advantage.

Winemaker: Ashley Herzberg

Vintage Notes: 2022 was an interesting vintage. After a very dry winter, we had some inclement weather events in spring during budbreak and bloom where frost and some hail reduced our already small crop. The growing season was quite warm which pushed ripening up a few weeks from average. All in all though, the quality was very high as the yields were incredibly low. This gave tons of depth and concentration to each of the wines made from this vintage.

Tasting Notes: Our 2022 Pinot Noir starts out with a beautiful color of light cranberry. The aromas are pure joy with gorgeous fresh picked raspberry, brambly blackberry, a hint of alpine strawberry and added in with layers of cassis, orange zest, a hint of clove and a touch of white pepper. The palate is juicy with pretty red fruit notes up front and layers of fruit, spice and subtle tannins on the mid and back palate. The acidity is very balanced and keeps this wine feeling vibrant and fresh. This wine should age well for 5-7 more years at least.
