The 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were hand picked from Mountain Terraces Vineyard, the iconic vineyard that tops out at 1,800 feet on the southwestern slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains above the Sonoma Valley floor. The steep, warm, high elevation site had been meticulously farmed by the Schaefer Family since the late eighties and produces Cabernet grapes with extraordinary elegance and complexity. The Schaefer Family sold their Mountain Terraces Vineyard a few years ago.
Cazadero Winery’s 2011 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from grapes grown on the iconic Mountain Terraces Vineyard located in the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma County. The steep, warm, high elevation site sits towards the top of Cavedale Road, 1,800 Ft elevation, on the Southeastern portion of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. It produces Cabernet grapes that show the exquisite structure, richness and depth of mountain grown fruit.
This all natural Cab was produced without any chemicals and although the label says Contains Sulfites, no Sulfur was used in the production of this wine (TTB label approval was obtained prior to finishing). Extended barrel aging with 26 months in 100% French Oak + laid down for 36 months in bottle has resulted in a nose that is incredibly complex: black cherries, black berries, sage, mint and a hint of Eucalyptus.
The rich density of the wine has just the right tannins on the palate, earthy, tobacco and graphite.
